A couple of weeks agoI posted about a 'floral ' competition being run by http://www.bladerubberstamps-blog.com/2009/03/competition-reminder.html I don't actually have many flower stamps (3) but thought I'd have a go anyway. When I'd finished and re-read the rules I realised my piece doesn't follow any of them ie.the central image should be floral and stamped, which mine is clearly not!
This is a photo of my grandfather Walter, I remember various floral bits of furniture but I'm not sure about the wallpaper. The only thing missing from the picture is a portrait of the Queen which hung on the wall next to the calendar. My grandfather always wore a hat, not exactly this one but something similar. Needs must!

I really like this! And what a good idea with the stamp, to use only a bit of it ( I can´t explain in English, but I think you know what I mean... )
I have GOT to finish my triptych! I am so ashamed. I have to stay home in order to do that though. Love your wallpaper!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this piece! Whata great idea to make some of teh flowers pop from the background for interest.
Hmm, if you want to submit it for the contest, why not temporarily place another flower over your grandfather's face (stamped in black and white like his photo is)? Leave the hat on him. A flower will be your focal point and the sentiment will be just as hilarious!
Don't cry! This is a beautiful and whimsical piece even if it doesn't fit the rules.
