Welcome to Dress Up in October!
I know quite a few of you have been hanging out for the start of this month!! Autumn and her rich tones just seems to naturally inspire and make those ideas flow.
I found this lovely quote which sent me in the direction of pumpkins and all the possibilities!
I craved my pumpkin and glittered it, then added a touch of acrylic and beeswax
I've made big note to self, finish the cupboard!! how's yours coming along?? I said November right?!
I have also come to a decision this month and sadly that is not to continue hosting Dress Up next year. I've had an amazing year running this wonderful project, but owing to new commitments my time will be somewhat shorter. My files are brimming with bloggers who I rarely get to visit and I rather fancy myself as a bit of a lurker! I will of course continue to do my own work, take part in challenges, swaps and other bloggy business. As I don't hold any official Dress Up crown any one of you lovelies is more than welcome to run with this idea, feel free! Thank you again for all your enthusiasm and artistic spirit, you gals have really made this year for me. Mx

Wow!!! It is so beautiful! I am late with my dresses - I need to make july, august, september and now october!
What a lovely dress! The quote is very inspirational and the glittered pumpkins are beautiful.
I want to thank you for hosting this, it has been so much fun!
And carved! I forgot to add carved!!! that is one of my favorite details about the dress!!!
have a great day!!
Margaret,
I'm sorry to read that you will not be continuing this project into 2011, but this has been a fun year, a fun ride, and an enjoyable experience. Without this project, I would never have met you or your awesome art which encompasses far more than just this wonderful project. You have been the perfect hostess and an encouraging friend to all of us.
Your dress this month really speaks autumn with the lovely pumpkin and leaves. It appears to glow when it's displayed in the cabinet. Perhaps it's the beeswax.
I started decorating my cabinet this month and finally got the dowel in place, the one big obstacle I've met in the past.
Cool dress i am going to see if I can find some more ...love the quote too ...Lorna
I am sad to see that it will be ending - even though I was a poor participant. I apologize for that. I really wish my real job wasn't a must! I have to thank you for sharing all your beautiful projects! I truly had so much fun doing 2 of the few dresses I made with my young granddaughters - they still have their projects hanging in their room! I think you gave them an experience with Grams that they will treasure in memories when they have their own kids.
I totally adore your October dress!
cheers, dana
Oh WOW Margaret, I bet this little beauty feels as lovely as it looks!
Awe, don't you worry about not carrying this on next year. You have made me (and lots of others) very happy doing something different my lovely.
I won't be able to show you my wardrobe as I am not doing one but am puting all mine on a canvas to hang in my sewing room. I Promise that I will show you in December.
HUGS XXX

THis is just such a stunning project you have running here. I wish I would have known about it from the beginning...look at that collection you have,,,wonderful!!!
It is fantastic! And words on it also!
Your dress this month so beautiful.
Margaret your dress is divine & how you have displayed it too.
I never thought you'd carry on next year - but it's been great fun & thank you again. Dress not made yet must get to it !
love this piece M, it is wonderful and a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, so good on you for knowing when to let go! congrats!
Oh please somebody pick up the mantle- that's an appropriate image, is it not?! I so love these Dress Ups, and would miss seeing such beauty.
I've enjoyed following your dress up event this year. I had every intention of joining but so many projects got in the way.
Although I've promised myself to start some kind of dress up..maybe even as soon as November and just let it be an ongoing thing for me and anyone else that is interested.
I know that many will probably be inspired to host an official event. I think mine will be unofficial then I don't have to stress over it if life gets in the way.:0)
Have a wonderful day,
Stephanie ♥
Such a beautiful dress - love all the textures. Truly autumnal.

such a creative little dress, the cut out areas were a great idea. i shall miss seeing all your little dress ups each month.
Oh this is just beautiful!! I love the pumpkins and the lovely quote is perfect.
Oh gosh I just read you won't be doing this next year. I had so much fun doing this even if I joined a little later. I had fun catching up and meeting all the other lovely dress makers. Thank you for sharing your beautiful dresses and for inspiring us to create.
Anna
Hi Margaret, I hope someone picks this up. I love seeing the darling dresses each month! Take care, Riki
Every time I see a new dress posted by you I wish I had joined in....I have linked to you in my latest blog post to share this loveliness.
Your October dress is stunning. I am so sorry that you will not be continuing in 2011, and hope that someone will continue this great project. I found it too late to join in and catch up, so had hoped to start in the new year.
Marilyn
The carving idea is brilliant! But then, you always have brilliant ideas!
How cute, I wish I had seen this earlier as I would have loved to become a part of it. Just lovely!!
Hugs,
Lisa
So beautiful !!! love these dresses !!
it is wonderful Margaret! I am behind, again....I need to catch up because I promised Olivia that she can hang the complete set on her bedroom wall and she asks me when they will be done! It has been a great challenge, I will be sad to see it end though I have the same time issues!
I think this is the most beautiful dress yet, Margaret. I love all the techniques you've used! I can surely understand you wanting to pass Dress-Up onto someone else, it must have taken SO much time. Hopefully someone can take it on, but if not, it's been spectacular!
Your dress is absolutely fabulous. I'm so excited to have completed my very first dress. I only wish there wasn't just November and Decemeber left in the challenge!
Angela
Oh woweeeeee this is soooo beautiful. I am so bad at not having kept up with my dresses... am going to have to rectify that this month.

I want to thank you for this project to us:))

Another winner of a dress!! Love the elements you combined for this one. I've finally gotten it together enough to make an October dress myself... Yikes!
Margaret,
I just found your blog tonight and love the dresses that you have made. It reminds me of playing with paper dolls when I was young...I actualy secretly would still love to play with them!!!
Is there a basic dress pattern all of you use and is it available somewhere?? I think I would like to make one..or probably more!
I am going to become a follower of yours and look forward to your future posts!
Hugs and Smiles,
Susan
ahhh I love yr blog! It's so coool!
Very clever dress. I am amazed yu can fit them all into your "closet"- wasn't that a concern in the beginning? You really should submit your trouseau to Somerset. It's a stunning collection!
Margaret, another truly amazing and inspiration dress! Fabulous in all respects.
Thank you so much for this challenge, I came to it a little late, but have thoroughly enjoyed making the dresses and seeing all the others. I'm sorry you won't be continuing it, but fully understand your reasons.
We still have another two months to go - yay!!
(I've just added my October dress)
another lovely you've added to your wardrobe Margaret
that quote is splendid too!
my dress is still in my head ... somewhere!
thank you so much for all of the inspiration, time and energy you've shared with us by doing your Dress Up Project ... I know it is no small feat!

What a lovely project you set yourself :)
Von
oh i love your dress and it does look a carving. i bet it looks even better in real life with beeswax texture.
I can understand your decision to not carry on next year. im sure we will all find something to keep us amused! it was great idea and i know i will look back fondly at the dresses, they are little bit of history from this year.
Your wardrobe looks wonderful ! Wish I found your blog sooner and played along. Thanks for the inspiration.
Why do I always find the most amazing things when it is months later? I love this dressup thing--can't wait to try one myself here in late October 2010. But as you said, how else will the pumpkin turn into a coach? (which I LOVE, because I played the role of the Fairy Godmother in our Little Theatre's production of Cinderella, so thank you, LOVE that quote!!!)
Better late than never ... I am finally playing along ... I'd better start thinking about November! :)

Exquisite!
This is such a magical dress - maybe Cinderella even wore it!
Margaret your art is so inspiring to everyone.
I shall miss seeing your amazing dress creations each month, but I know whatever direction you take you will be stimulating my creative juices!
Like SJ McDowell who commented here I would be grateful to know if there's a basic pattern you all used as I would like to create a collection for my granddaughters to play with.
Any guidelines would be helpful, also re the hangers and where cigar boxes can be purchased!
Thank you for sharing
Shane
Linked up my George Barbier inspired dress as #16. Now hopping along to see all the other dresses posted.
Your October dress is so beautiful, Margaret! Thank you so much for hosting this wonderful link up this year. I didn't get started with it until August and I plan to continue doing my monthly dresses in 2011 (at least until I get back around to August).
wow! all the dresses are lovely and thanks for being the best host. Changing of the season fall a beautiful time of the year.
Oh what a lovely dress, just as stunning as all of the rest! Happy Haunting... Christen
Your dress is absolutely beautiful! I am already thinking of using some sort of pumpkins and turkey's for my November dress! Better late than ever, I finished my October dress.
I want to thank you for doingthis project this year. I have drawn so much inspiration for everyone who has participated and I have had a real treat viewing month after month all of the loviness. I too am sad that you will not be hosting this next year-another one of my groups had seen my dresses, went to your website and one of the ladies has decided to host something along these same lines for next year-yipee!
Again, thank you for all the "artsy" inspiration throughout this year!
Your dress is fantastic!
This is so beautifully photographed Maragret as to make it nearly my favourite of yours but not quite :-)
Love the little light shining through it aaah so pretty!
It's a fabulous take on Halloween, very lovely indeed.
I have posted both October's and Nov's Dresses together.
I never thought or expected you to be running the challenge again next year.
It has been such fun to join in with and you have made the most marvellous job of running it with all your wonderful creations, Mr linky and all your thoughtful supportive comments you have made on everyone's dresses. You are a STAR Margaret!!
