Cotton reels

I prepared a few reels made out of old crisp containers a month or so back but never got any further with them. I managed to find cotton reels in the local craft shop (not a high demand for them here!) and had a go at making a hanging piece, I'll have another try later on as I can see with a bit of tweaking they could be an interesting way to show photos

I had the first try out with the embossing tool, very cool, well worth the investment!

Leave it alone...

So, the top one I pulled to pieces as I didn't like it but by then I'd glued the face and text on so now there's a big gap on the right side of the frame. I added some thicker wire for hanging and another tack under the pic. I still have two days to mess around with it...

The idea

so this was what I started with which I thought was very cool (image off computer), then I messed around with it and totally ruined it! I wanted to use a pic of a friend of mine who's about to have a birthday. Unfortunately the photos I was sent weren't very clear, I tried a couple of images then ended up sticking on one that was way too big for the canvas, combined with putting the text in the wrong place aagghh... should just learn to leave it alone

New Stamps

Sometimes it's nice to forget what you've ordered! the birdcage was a surprise! I'm not at all sure what I'm going to do with them but the round one was to be used on the tops of the spools except that I've painted the spools and they look too awful to do anything with! maybe just another layer of paint will do the trick. The butterfly can be removed which is quite cool. I've been collecting a few French stamps and plan to do some kind of decorated paravan. So may ideas in my head and not a lot to show for it, I'd like to be one of these 'prolific' artists but I think it's some way off...

SuperStar

So this week's card was an easy one, a real life signature from Germany's winner of 'Deutschland sucht den SuperStar' Thomas Godoj. He was in Media Markt last night and very obligingly signed my card for me, super super cool!

Julian

My friend took some black and white photos of the kids and this is one of Julian that I particularly like, it was only after I'd finished I realised the word companion is floating above his head, something I shouldn't forget when he's causing merry havoc! I used loads of Gesso, paint, papers and antique stamp pads.

Swap

I've completed a mini canvas for a swap although I'm no so happy with
the results, the brief was to use anything but paper, I tried typing
on fabric which was ok until I glued it and the colour ran, but too bad, it's
taken me a month to get this one out the door and I won't be doing another.
The text should read 'bien dans ma peau' a French expression for somebody
who is happy in their own skin!
