This weeks house theme at http://dansmamaisonilya.blogspot.com/ is vintage. I like very much the yellow/blue combination with a bit of distress ink, sort of faded days gone by

Giveaway
Earlier I promised a giveaway when I reached 50 posts but because I'm so disorganised it's taken until 60 to finally complete the little 2x2" canvas!! Anyway, here she is, ready to fly to a new home, leave me a comment to go in the draw which will end Midday (Swiss time!) Saturday 4th Oct.
On Friday I said I love my Nikon, well today we are at loggerheads, the light's wrong, can't focus (the camera not me) and all in all it's a complete waste of time, but I'm going to post it anyway as I can't bear to take another pic!

declaration
I was feeling a bit sorry for the King of Hearts so I decided to add a small declaration of love from the lovely Hannah...

I blame Carole
See, that's all it took http://kiwicarole.blogspot.com/ just a glimpse of the homeland and I'm off on one! Love the colours of the river and the lake Carole, truly NZ
I painted a few strips of old paper with acrylic and pressed them on randomly, then I added my stamp of the moment (I will stop using it on everything soon I promise..) lastly I added a pic of myself with my finger in a river somewhere down South and some Paua shell pieces.
I applied the stamp pad to the canvas, then sprayed it with water, covered it with plastic wrap and dried it with the heat tool, I've discovered the trick is not to peel the plastic off too soon otherwise it takes most of the colour with it.

A flower for my love
This weeks theme over at http://dansmamaisonilya.blogspot.com/ is a flower. It seems the lovely Hannah is being just a little ungrateful

a plan
Just like Esmeralda I had a plan except that it all went horribly wrong! I cut out some lines of text from a trashy novel and waited to see what ideas hit me, fascinating to take words out of context and apply your own story. I painted a bit of old canvas paper, but never again!! I like texture very much but this was so difficult to get the paint to move around on and the overall effect is just too grainy for me. Still, another card to go in the box, perhaps I 'll like it by the end of the year when I've had time to forget about the problems involved in making it.

botch job
I think I've said this before but there's a point in every piece of work where my head tells me to stop but my fingers keep going... I really liked the children and their mother but decided the left side of the canvas was too plain so I added a bit of texture paste and painted it cream (which was the point I should have left it alone!) I put a bit of brown on top and then tried to remove the paint from the girl but only succeeded in taking a bit out of the pic, I twisted a paper flower around the wire as a distraction!!
tin tastic
Had a great evening Friday with friends, sharing a couple of bottles, a takeaway and then getting down to some crafting! even the self styled non-artys excelled themselves! Unfortunately I seem to have taken approx 20 blurry photos (perhaps that was the wine...) and these are the only two that are clear, hopefully you get the idea?!

a little secret
Just a wee word about life in Switzerland... there are one or two things you just can't buy here including Fish n Chips, peppermint chocolate (After 8's don't count) traditional mince pies and only recently has Cheddar cheese become available. Imagine my utter delight to discover not only is the lovely Michael Jones http://www.cheeseclub.ch/ importing English, Irish and Scottish cheeses but that he's opening a new shop nearby yaaaaay Now all of this might seem a little insignificant living as I do in the land of cheese and chocolate, but the sheer joy a piece of English cheese can bring is not to be underestimated. And then, as a double bonus I discovered a Pie Shop has opened selling Cornish Pasties! AND Cablecom switched on Channel 4 for us English speakers, quite a day really!! I would have loved to show you the cheese I bought but alas I've eaten it all, yep all gone and a packet of Oatcakes to boot aaaahhh....
