Dress Up - February

And then there were two... Welcome to 'Dress Up' in February!

I used a rather nice piece of Cavallini wrapping paper as a background, I painted, sanded and painted some more using a combination of acrylics and inks.

It's all gone a bit green! (didn't I post about using angels and hearts??) but Spring is in the air here in Switzerland, so I'm in good time. I added a piece of tea dyed muslin and tinted the ribbon rose with brown Stazon.

I painted a wire heart and cut some tags from an old letter dated 1925, I know I shouldn't have used the original but it was the paper, really it was, I just couldn't resist!

I've added the Linky below for another round of your truly beautiful creations! On a technical note can I please ask that you add the link to your dress entry and not simply to your Blog. For example, my Blog address is http://aliceandcamilla.blogspot.com/ but the dress entry for January is http://aliceandcamilla.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html This means readers will always be taken directly to your dress post. To do this, open your 'Dress Up' post, copy and paste the link that appears in the browser. The Linky for each month stays open and you can add to it at any time. The 'Dress Up' post will move down my Blog as I continue to add new posts during the month but it can always be found in Blog Archives under the appropriate month. As I said in my earlier post I will open 'Dress Up' on the first of each month, starting with March 1st. Once again thank you all for playing along, I am in awe of the talent out there in Blogland, it's official, we're awesome! Posted by Picasa

Dress Up update

My February dress is still in progress and along the way I've had a little think about the project in general. I orginally proposed to post my dress and the Linky at the end of each month but with themes such as Valentines it seems a shame to do it after the event!

Therefore, I'll post my February dress and Linky by the middle of next week but from March onwards the link will be posted on the 1st of every month (for the upcoming month) until the end of the year. The links never close and you can add your dress of the month at anytime. My apologies for any confusion but sometimes you have to do it to know it! Posted by Picasa

Kiwiana

These are the last of the QB5 charm and brooch swap to wing their way to me from Carole in New Zealand, and what a talented gal our Carole is too! she's altered a bottle top to create her charm, and attached some little glass beads to the clip

On the back Carole has attached a tiny bird

I love the vibrant red of these tops and the general knowledge questions underneath! brilliant!

And the little brooch, this is totally Carole with her wonderful combination of sewn paper and fabric, love it! Thank you so much for my treasures Carole.

Ab fab

My dear Blogging buddy Nathalie sent me this charming necklace in our latest QB5 swap. Nathalie altered a vintage bobbin complete with thread to create this message of hope. She actually has a Thread of Hope giveaway running on her blog right now and there's still time to enter the draw!

It arrived neatly packed in this little matchbox, so perfect in every way!

The second part of the swap was a brooch, and just look at this beauty! Nathalie's made hers out of three tiny fabric circles which she's decorated with lace and old buttons. The text is especially for me, apparently I say fabulous a lot, do I? really? The brooch is attached to an old library card, great title combining my favourite colours

Go and check out Nathalie's ETSY shop, she has loads of cool goodies looking for a new home!

Thank you again for my wonderful charm and brooch Nathalie, it's so fab (just had to say that!!)to be part of such a talented group of gals!

Udderly fantastic

The school holidays started last week and I've spent the past few days enjoying the Swiss mountain charm of a town called Lenzerheide, superb!
At the top of the first lift I discovered an outdoor bar which was offering a shot of something a little bit stronger in your coffee, not a wise move especially for the likes of myself who has enough trouble staying upright in the first place. I happily sat on a woolly lined deckchair watching the world go by.
And down through the valley they came, loads of them, skiers and snowboarders, whizzing at break neck speed, and you know what?? NONE of them fell over!! not a single one!! (and I was sitting, I mean resting there for quite some time...)
We're home but I want to go back! I loved everything about this place, sigh...

10 year old art critic

Me to her: "do you like my bird box?"
"yes, it's lovely, but where's the bird?"
" it's there in the picture"
"no, I mean the one that belongs in the nest"
"well, maybe it's already flown away"
"then why does it say fly?"
"um... (help me help me) because it needed instructions"
"oh"
"and Mummy"
"yes?"
"your l looks like a 1"
honestly, I don't know why I bother, really not...
