Dress Up - April

Welcome to Dress Up in April!

We're still waiting on Spring so I've decided to go with the birds until the flowers arrive! My (still) unfinished wardrobe is filling up and I love how the dresses look together.

I tried to kept it simple this month and wanted to use my new found free motion skills. I whizzed around the top with random swirls then added the bars of the cage (drew them first!) with a regular stitch. I attached a little set of initials that I found at the local flea market.

I think these little birds are Goldcrests, I love their gentle colours

I glued a tiny gold ring to the top of the cage and threaded it with a plain red ribbon.

I've been back many times over the past month to admire your beautiful dresses! You are such a talented group of artists just buzzing with creativity, so many different ideas and techniques on display. Thank you once again for taking part in 'Dress Up'

As I was posting my monthly dress, yours popped up. I love how these beauties look together. Seeing them all in a row really brings this project together.

I can't believe you "drew" that birdcage using your sewing machine. Your new found talent is simply amazing. And that dress is gorgeous. The birdcage treatment is wonderful, from the design to the little gold ring used as the bird cage holder. Even the initials and the birds are so well placed and believable. This is one stunning piece of drop dead gorgeous ART.

Happy April, dear Margaret. Thanks for allowing me to play. And thanks for this inspiring dress.

A_M_A_Z_I_N_G! so fragile and beautiful!

Elizabeth, only the top of the dress is free motion, the cage was drawn first! I need a LOT more practice before I can lay claim to a shape like that! Margaret

I've just added myself to the linky thing, but when I checked it, it was linking back to you, so I've added me again - so sorry, but can you delete the first 'Sherry'. Thanks

Hi Margaret, just posted my first dress for April!! These are so much fun to do!!! Your hangers are really good! I thought those would be a piece of cake since I've done wirewrapping, but they proved to be a challenge, I'll have to practice. I'm thinking I may do my January dress next - all kinds of "cool" ideas running through my head. :) Marva
