Christchurch, New Zealand

I can't begin to describe what it is to be sitting on the other side of the world watching the devastation unfolding in my hometown
I was born in Christchurch, I grew up there, I lived and worked in this beautiful city
the tears keep falling
the eyes of The World are on you guys, we're all behind you
hang in there, just hang in there..

Oh Margaret! Isn't this so awful! We have family in Christchurch and it was awful waiting to hear that they were OK. One relative has no power or water at their house, I can't imagine how hard that is with children. We just commemorated the 80th year since the 1931 Napier earthquake here in February.

I am so sorry, Margaret. I have a friend who lives there and her nerves have been really shaky from the aftershocks on the first one. I am so glad to read your mother is ok. I hope the world rallies and gets them whatever would be helpful.
I will be thinking of you

Suz

I am SO sorry about all this devastation in your home town. I had meant to say something on my blog for two days and I kept forgetting. I know how painful that can be. My thoughts are with you and your mom today.

We've been watching the news here in Colorado and are stunned at the destruction and death. There are no words for such a tragedy.
I had distant cousins in Christchurch (now passed)and have some nice photos of the area. Such a glorious place it was.

For you, it's a loss even more so. I AM glad to know your Mom is ok.

Hugs,
Jan

My nephew has been offering cooked breakfasts and showers to who ever might want one, at his flat as he still has power and running water. He's 19, bless him :))

Hi Margaret,

My heart is with you. I know first hand how it feels to see a place so special to you devastated...Hurricane Katrina left me with that feeling and still does after almost 7 years. It takes decades to rebuild and to recover. Sadly..so many people never recover with a home like they once had nor do they emotionally recover.

Upset doesn't even begin to cover how you feel right now...I know it hurts.

Hugs,
Stephanie ♥
